The Lawrence Peters Outfit

The Lawrence Peters Outfit play un-ruined country music, a term Lawrence coined to describe the band’s original, deep-rooted, honky tonk sound. They are 2019 and 2018 Ameripolitan Award nominees, in the Best Honky Tonk Group category, and two-time winner of the “Best Country And Western Entertainer” (Chicago Music Awards).
Best known for his lead vocal on “The Old Black Hen”, for the watershed Songs: Ohia- Magnolia Electric Company album, Peters leads the “Outfit” through his own finely crafted originals, and cherry-picked classics. The band is a super-group of Chi-Town pickers, including Matt Gandurski on lead guitar, Dave Sisson on rhythm guitar and harmonies, and Josh Piet on upright bass.

Cox’s Army (Record Release)

Cox’s Army is a Chicago-based Bluegrass band that performs classic and original material in the traditional style. Founded in 2016, the band is led by ‘Cousin’ Chuck Cox (Guitar, Lead Vocal) and features Laird Patten (Banjo), Jeff Burke (Mandolin, Baritone Vocal), and Jack Campbell (Bass, Tenor Vocal).

Cox's Army

The band keeps things traditional and acoustic, but believes that there is plenty of room for new material and innovation within that style. Their live show is built around a blend of Chuck Cox’s original songs, and a healthy dose of classic bluegrass songs. Authentic performance is a core value of Cox’s Army. The band most often performs around a small mic cluster to deliver their signature vocal harmonies, and they ‘work the mic’ like classic bluegrass bands, to emphasize featured instrumental breaks.
Their new album New Richmond Town (release celebration tonight!), was recorded in the same spirit as each track is a complete performance without edits or modern studio tricks. The album was recorded in Chicago with Chris Walz producing the sessions and the tracks were mixed with the experienced ear of Rickey Wasson in Clay City, KY. Cox’s Army’s debut album Green Eyed Train, released in 2018, was recorded in the same style with production and mixing by the same team.

The Family Gold

Honky tonk heroes, The Family Gold, are coming off the release of their debut vinyl 45 from Soul Step Records featuring the single, Absolutely Nothing. The music lends itself to the hardworking culture of the city, with all its true grit and glory. Led by Benjamin Miles on guitar and vocals, and Michelle Morales on upright bass, the members bring to the stage a diverse background of inspiration ranging from Mississippi Delta Blues, Western Swing, the Cajun country of Louisiana, and country music of the ’40s. The band is now back in the studio working on their first full length. Recommended for the two-steppers, whiskey drinkers, and all around American music lovers.
